Overflow 2023

Artist Statement:

The gumball machine represents life's blessings and joys that are so beautiful, sweet, and quite often surprising. It encourages us to shift our perspectives to the gratitude that comes from the ovverflow of the wonderful gifts given to us, if only we stop to count them.

Shattered 2024

Artist Statement:

Dancers break their bodies time and time again to become stronger, and rejoice when they bleed from dancing their hardest, only to do it again the next day. When life shatters us, we can feel so brittle and the shards are too sharp for us to piece back together again. But the Lord’s power is made great in our own weakness, and I want the good, the bad, and the heart-shattering things in my own life to make me stronger and more beautiful in what I bring to the future, rather than hold me back from what’s ahead. Like the Japanese form of Kintsugi, I don’t want the breaks to be hidden, but rather redeemed and made beautiful by the repair.
